How to apply UniSUC to patients.

Day to Day

UniSUC products are designed for single-patient use. We recommend replacing the liner every 12-24 hours, or more often if needed. The frame device is reusable and should be cleaned and disinfected regularly. However, if the frame becomes stained, clogged with stool, loses its shape, or shows signs of degradation in the soft PVC material, it should be replaced with a new one.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

To disinfect a reusable UniSUC Frame, first remove used Disposable Liners and rinse it thoroughly, then wash with soap and water, and finally disinfect with a bleach solution (1:10 dilution) or an EPA-registered tuberculocidal disinfectant.

Here’s a more detailed procedure:

  1. Preparation and Safety:
    • Wear gloves:
Always wear disposable gloves when handling used bedpans or urinals devices to prevent cross-contamination.
    • Empty and Rinse:
Carefully remove used Disposable Liner and throw away into designated disposal system. Rinse the reusable Frame with warm water to remove any visible waste.
  2. Cleaning:
    • Wash with Soap and Water: Thoroughly wash the Frame with soap and water, ensuring all surfaces are cleaned.
    • Dry: Dry the Frame with a clean, disposable cloth or allow it to air dry.
  3. Disinfection:
    • Bleach Solution (1:10 Dilution):
For a bleach solution, mix 1 part bleach (5.25%–6.15% sodium hypochlorite) with 10 parts water.
    • EPA-Registered Tuberculocidal Disinfectant:
Alternatively, you can use an EPA-registered tuberculocidal disinfectant according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
    • Soak or Wipe:
Soak the Frame in the disinfectant solution for the recommended contact time (usually 10 minutes) or wipe down all surfaces with the solution.
    • Rinse:
After disinfecting, rinse the urinal thoroughly with clean water to remove any disinfectant residue.
  4. Drying and Storage:
    • Air Dry:
Allow the Frame to air dry completely before storage.
    • Storage:
Store the clean and dry Frame in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight.

    Important Considerations:
    • Hand Hygiene:
Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling the urinal, even after wearing gloves.
    • Follow Facility Protocols:
Adhere to any specific cleaning and disinfection protocols established by your facility or healthcare provider.
